Research suggests these overlooked health factors Research suggests these overlooked health factors lead to greater wellbeing and improved biomarkers of health. Food and exercise are important but way overemphasized in American culture. If you are looking for more ways to “get healthy” (another overemphasized, morality-laden term), then see if you can incorporate more of these elements.

That’s it. That’s the message. . Gah, what I w That’s it. That’s the message.
.
Gah, what I wish I could tell my 23 year-old self. She was so focused on getting the “best” body in her 20s to avoid any body change in her 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond.
.
What she didn’t know is that we can’t predict or circumvent body change no matter how hard we try. Our bodies (earth suits) aren’t totally under our control.
.
I saw an amazing quote from @blackboysom saying basically, “Do you want control or alignment?” Alignment comes from a deeper, more authentic place than control.
.
My 20 year-old self was desperate for control. She was constantly spinning to the point it was hard to sit at home. I had to constantly be busy to distract from all the shit driving my eating disorder: trauma, feelings of sadness, anxiety, fear of not being loved, fears of abandonment, fears of not being good enough, fear of change (which is ultimately rooted in grief and loss).
.
I didn’t know how good alignment could feel. I didn’t know I was capable of dealing with change.
.
When we let go of the diet culture-informed idea that we have control of our bodies, then we give space for change, freedom, authenticity, and PEACE (which is what we’re all searching for in a misguided control freak way).
.
Bodies change. That is all. Get used to it. Grieve it. Celebrate it. Honor your sweet body because it’s doing the best it can in this crazy world we live in.

Black and brown lives matter. Fuck white supremacy Black and brown lives matter. Fuck white supremacy. Fuck corrupt systems that abuse people for who they were born to be.
.
This photo quote isn’t just about small bodies. It’s about any time systems try to maintain positions of power over the most marginalized groups. You know why folks are marginalized? Because power structures push them to the margins.
.
Don’t let that stop you from taking up space.
.
And a note to my white friends: keep doing anti-racism work. Listen to Black people. Share the pie. Don’t be surprised at what happened at the capitol yesterday. Quit hiding behind guilt as a way to avoid the ugly underbelly of white supremacy our country was built on.

Staying positive doesn’t mean you have to be hap Staying positive doesn’t mean you have to be happy all the time. It means even on hard days you know that there are better ones coming. From @brightvibesmedia via @selflovesupply 💖 A note about optimism: it is a daily choice. Sometimes your brain might make this A LOT harder. But that’s what it’s all about...orienting towards hope of easier days.
.
It’s important to note depression can be a different animal. However, there’s positivity in one’s choice to dance with mental health challenges by seeking help, not over identifying with a diagnosis and taking responsibility for healing. Those actions mean there’s a window in your brain that looks towards hope which is a major positive.

Guess what? Some of the most popular diets and fit Guess what? Some of the most popular diets and fitness advice normalizes eating disorder behavior. From a clinical perspective, each of these behaviors, combined with the high level of distress they create, can lead to a full blown eating disorder. Research show 25% of dieters develop an eating disorder. Let’s stop normalizing this behavior by not engaging with it!
